Matt will be participating in Le Cure 2024 and will attempt to cycle 386 kilometers and climb 10,413 vertical metres.
Since starting Le Cure, Matt has cycled the equivalent of the height of Mount Everest 12.83 times, and cycled around the m25 21.50 times! That's 113,520 vertical metres and 4,042 kilometres.
I don't like climbing up mountains, but the Prof makes a very good case as to why it is important to do so!
Knowing that I can retire from Le Cure at any moment having completed 10 rides…..that and the post ride beers each day...Curista camaraderie!
Four seasons in one day climbing the Telegraph and the Galibier in 2019 ....... or the near 40 degree heat climbing up the start of bloody Alpe d’Huez every bloody year.....or heat stroke somewhere near Cannes last year!
Find someone your own pace and ride with them - it makes it easier if you can chat to someone on the way up - you will be riding for a long time each day. Also worth downloading a lot of podcasts to listen to out of one ear in case you do end up on your own! Finally, under no circumstances believe Paddy when he says that a daily dose of Green Chartreuse is mandatory....
