Since starting Le Cure, John has cycled the equivalent of the height of Mount Everest 1.37 times, and cycled around the m25 2.03 times! That's 12,097 vertical metres and 382 kilometres.

Forty something ex-soldier who is clearly looking for a mid-life crisis challenge to attempt. Trying to make the most of lockdown by getting fitter, lighter and healthier.

Cycling Experience:

Bitten by the bug during lockdown. Enjoy cycling round the Suffolk countryside with friends. The biggest hills here are probably about 500m long so not sure perfect preparation but the training starts now...

Biggest Fear:

That I'm just not going to be able to get up the climbs. And staying away from the bar in the evenings is going to be the biggest challenge.

Reason For Doing This:

Pure peer pressure and intimidation from my sister, Louise, who is also doing this. And I suspect that it may be a little like a lot of my military training - pain and heartache during and a sense of enjoyment in hindsight. And of course supporting an amazing charity that has helped my family and many friends.
